Brief History of the Group

The Group's Aims and Objective

The group was founded to provide emotional support, friendship, information and fun to women who are suffering from, or have suffered from, breast cancer and similarly provides support to their families and friends.

As well as the "open door" regular monthly meetings the group organises social events to which the members are encouraged to bring their families and friends.

The group also raises funds to buy extra equipment and facilities to support and help Worcester Hospital to give a better service to breast care sufferers.

How The Group Started

The group was founded by Jacqui Heal in 1990 bringing together women following breast surgery and varying treatments. At the time Jacqui was a Breast Care Nurse at Worcester Hospital and identified there was a need for support beyond that which could be given in the hospital itself. Sadly through illness she passed away on 23 July 2007. She is sadly missed by all she knew and is a great loss to the group.
